Starting your search for “the one” can sometimes be a daunting task. With the internet offering so much inspiration these days and options for your big day can sometimes be endless! Here’s our top 7 must read wedding dress shopping tips we've put together to help ease the stress and confusion when searching for your perfect bridal gown. We now offer 2 hour appointments as standard for our brides so you are free to enjoy and relax your shopping experience.

Start Early

You’ll need at least six to eight months to get your gown — and that's if you're really decisive. If you're a picky shopper or don't really know what you want, start looking 8 to 10 months before your wedding. Give yourself a cushion - if you put dress shopping off for too long, your selection of dresses could be limited or you might make a quick decision you may regret later. You never know what might happen so allow for all eventualities if possible!

Figure Out What You Like

Take cues from your venue, the season and the time of day you're getting married to help narrow down your dress style. Rule out fabrics and silhouettes that won't work (for example, a bulky ball gown is probably not the best fit for a midday beach affair!) and consider what styles will flatter your shape.

Call in Advance

Just because we may carry your favourite designer it doesn't mean we'll necessarily have the exact dress you've been dying to try on! If you call beforehand we may be able to request a specific style especially for you. Scheduling an appointment with us guarantees you'll get our full undivided attention.

Let us, help you!

Don't eliminate anything at first glance. We only want to find a dress that works for you and even if you don't initially love what we suggest or think it's totally not "you.", try it! It's possible to fall for a wedding gown you didn't think you'd like or want. Not every dress looks great on a hanger, so let go of any preconceived notions and keep an open mind.

Buy a Dress That Fits Now

Even if you're planning on focusing on your health and fitness in a big way before your wedding, your body type isn't going to completely change. Besides, it's a lot easier (not to mention less expensive) to take a gown in than to try and make a too-small dress work.

Bring Your Accessories

While we will have shoes and slips on hand for you to try on with your gown, you should still come prepared with a nude bra and underwear for the fittings. If you already have your shoes for the big day please bring them along as it will help to match heel height to skirt length.

Don't overcrowd yourself

The TV show 'Say yes to the dress' may feature brides with a whole army of friends and family but in the real world we strongly suggest just bringing a couple of trusted 'advisors' along with you, maybe your Mum and a best friend. Don't cloud your mind with a bar-age of opinions!
